With love,

We all love watching Martha Stewart’s Halloween and holiday shows with her great homemade gift and craft segments. Chances are you have tried doing some of those at home like me. When it comes to making something special for my loved ones and clients and ensuring they get something that they don’t already have, there is not time to make everyone a gift basket or homemade item on time. has beautiful works of art and handcrafts as well as handmade furniture available for Halloween, Thanksgiving, Christmas and Hanukkah.  There are so many great artists in right here in Texas.

You can choose from existing designs or create your own with one-of-kind stained glass pieces from Gary Hivnor of Fairview. Smithsonian worthy woodworking from Tejas Woods of Plano-engraved cutting boards, business card holders, wine stoppers with silver inlay and the state of Texas seal.

For ladies, there is handmade “green” jewelry and ceiling fan pulles made from recycled dominoes from Mystic Angel. Sisters Emporium has beautiful sterling silver pieces that are engraved.  As featured on, they also make “green” furniture from recycled wine barrels-bar stools, coffee tables, plant stands, occasional tables, lazy susans, pot racks and more.

A great way to say “thank you” to clients and employees is to create a custom gift basket with a theme and it does not have to be a Texas theme. We have created gift baskets with gourmet foods from Texas, one for outdoor grilling, one called “Some Like it Hot” featuring mixes, rubs and great chile peppers, seasonings and salsas. We have one for the literary-minded, one for the Longhorn or Aggies #1 fan, the drink connoisseur or sommelier, a Texas art basket, and many more.

The trick is to order by November 15 if you want something made by hand. It is actually made by hand and from scratch and it will take 2-3 weeks.

There is good news for procrastinators out there, we do have available inventory for non-handmade items that can ship in 2-3 days.

For custom gift baskets please allow for 2 weeks from order date to arrival date.

Have fun shopping!

As a third-generation Texan I learned the finer points of shooting, ranching and hunting from my grandfather growing up. His ranch occupied what we now know at Ft. Hood in Killeen, Texas and it was a favorite place of my family.  As I look back on the special times we had together, I would have loved to share all the Texas treats that I now carry on A Texas Style with him and my grandmother.  There are many great gift ideas on A Texas to honor your grandparents this weekend for Grandparents Day.

Here is a great idea for your grandmother.  Cooking Texas-style would not be the same without Jean Cates and Sue Cunningham, The Chuckwagon Sisters Cook Books and metal casting pans for making Texas or cowboy boot-shaped cakes or cornbread shaped as an ear of corn. Click on the following links to purchase

For grandfathers, nothing is better then grilling steaks outside during football season when the grandkids are over. Except how do you keep things straight while visiting when so many pieces of meat are on the grill?  I found a ranch in Texas that has created custom branding irons for A Texas with “M” for Medium, “W” for Well-done, and “R” for Rare. The set is $59.95 and is now available and makes a great “unexpectedly clever” gift for Grandpa.

Branding Irons Set for Grilling Meats

Let’s give a big collective Texas holler for all our great forefathers and mothers in Texas and throughout the world and express our gratitude for the love and warmth they have shown us.
